Ohio State Visits Children’s Medical Center
The Ohio State Buckeyes took time to greet young patients and their families at the Children’s Medical Center Dallas on Wednesday afternoon. Red and white balloons filled the room, and the children’s smiles widened as each player came down the stairs.
To kick-off the festivities, Head Coach Urban Meyer was introduced and gave a few words of encouragement to all of the guests.
“True heroes are the families and young people who have dealt with some adversity and have learned at a very young age with these families to fight through adversity,” Coach Meyer said.
BUCKEYES PUT FINISHING TOUCHES ON PREPARATION
The Ohio State Buckeyes turned in their final practice for the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Wednesday at AT&T Stadium.
The only on-field preparation that remains is the walk-through on Thursday before the Buckeyes (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten), No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, collide with No. 8 USC (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) on Friday.
Just as if they were back home preparing for a Big Ten game, the Buckeyes have followed their normal game-week process. Wednesday equated to a typical Thursday during the regular season because it’s two days before the game.
USC Visits Texas Scottish Rite Hospital
The USC Trojans took time out of their schedule this afternoon to visit with patients of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. The entire squad along with Head Coach Clay Helton visited with the children and special guests inside the hospital’s cafeteria.
Coach Helton and the team were welcomed by Texas Scottish Rite’s President and CEO Robert Walker and special guest Dr. Drew Dossett a local orthopedic specialist who played for the university back in the 1980’s.
“It is a privilege and an honor to be here,” said Coach Helton.
Goodyear Reimagines Mascots as Giant Tire Sculptures
In celebration of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and college football, Goodyear has teamed up with the Classic to create tire-based sculptures of the two participating teams’ mascots for the second consecutive year.
The Ohio State University’s Brutus and University of Southern California’s Tommy Trojan were constructed from more than 400 Goodyear-branded tires, took 375 hours to make,stand more than six feet tall and weigh between 250-300 pounds.
USC SEEKS TO CAP SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE
The No. 8 USC Trojans were back hard at work on the practice field Tuesday afternoon for their second workout of the week at AT&T Stadium.
With the enthusiasm the team has displayed all week, USC bounced through a nearly two-hour workout filled with energy from warm-ups to the final horn.
“They love to compete against each other,” said head coach Clay Helton. “When you’ve been competing against each other for three weeks, you’re really ready to go compete against somebody else.
BUCKEYES GETTING IN TUNE WITH USC
Ohio State completed its fourth on-site practice Tuesday in preparation for the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
The Buckeyes (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten), No. 5 in the CFP rankings, worked enthusiastically for two hours in helmets, shells and shorts at AT&T Stadium. It was their second practice at the game venue after working twice at a local high school. They’ll meet No. 8 USC (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) on Friday.
Media were given 15 minutes early in practice to take photos and video.
TROJANS CONTINUE GOODYEAR COTTON BOWL CLASSIC PREP
While most celebrated the Christmas holiday on Monday, the USC Trojans (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12), No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings, kept things business as usual with a two-hour practice to continue preparation for facing the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten) in the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
USC got its first feel of AT&T Stadium with practice in shells and shorts. The Trojans went through a high-energy workout encompassing individual drills and game situations.
OHIO STATE MAKES ITSELF AT HOME IN AT&T STADIUM PRACTICE
It’s not “The Shoe”, but AT&T Stadium gave the Ohio State Buckeyes that home feeling on Monday.
Ohio State (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten), No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, practiced at AT&T Stadium for the first time since arriving in preparation to face the No. 8 USC Trojans (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) in the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. The stadium was unavailable Saturday because of Texas high school championship games and Sunday because of the Dallas Cowboys game, so they practiced at a local high school.
USC RETURNS TO THE PRACTICE FIELD, FOCUS ON OHIO STATE
The USC Trojans got into the holiday spirit with a lively 60-minute practice Sunday afternoon at Coppell High School.
Head coach Clay Helton complimented his squad on their collective focus in the team’s first practice since Tuesday. The Trojans went through their traditional Monday routine, touching on all three phases and working on the game plan to face Ohio State.
USC (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) is eighth in the College Football Playoff rankings and Ohio State (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten) is fifth.
FULL PRACTICE, FULL DAY FOR BUCKEYES
The Ohio State Buckeyes settled into their game-week preparation routine, treating Sunday’s practice like a Monday during the regular season.
Because the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will be played on Friday, the Buckeyes and their opponent, the USC Trojans, are working a day ahead of their normal schedules.
Ohio State (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten) is fifth in the College Football Playoff rankings and USC (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) is eighth.
Head Coach Urban Meyer put Ohio State through a spirited two-hour workout in full pads at Euless Trinity High School.
TROJANS TOUCH DOWN IN NORTH TEXAS FOR 82ND GOODYEAR COTTON BOWL CLASSIC
The No. 8 USC Trojans made the trek Saturday from southern California to North Texas in anticipation of their first appearance in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in 22 years.
The USC contingent was welcomed by a fanfare of cardinal and gold as the Trojans (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12) return to the Classic’s 82nd edition for just the second time in their storied postseason history. Head coach Clay Helton said he is excited to have his squad experience the traditions of the Cotton Bowl Classic against a perennial power in Ohio State.
Buckeyes Arrive, Get Down to Business
The Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t waste any time starting their on-site preparation for the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
The team’s flight landed late morning on Saturday and they bussed straight to Euless Trinity High School to practice before heading to the team hotel. Ohio State (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten), No. 5 in the CFP rankings, is preparing to face the No. 8 USC Trojans (11-2, 8-1 Pac-12).
Head Coach Urban Meyer spoke with the media before taking the field and said he’s glad to be back in the Classic.
ERIC DICKERSON AND TONY DORSETT TO BE FEATURED IN NEW GOODYEAR “BLIMPWORTHY” MOMENTS; APPEAR AT GOODYEAR COTTON BOWL
Two of the game’s greatest running backs – Eric Dickerson and Tony Dorsett will be featured as part of the ongoing sponsorship between the Pro Football Hall of Fame and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
The legendary runners will be profiled in the first of 10 new “Blimpworthy” moments that will be aired between now and Super Bowl LII. “Blimpworthy” is what defines the spirit of football – hard work, grit and determination – that takes place on and off the field.
NO. 5 OHIO STATE AND NO. 8 USC SET TO CLASH IN CLASSIC
Thank you College Football Playoff Selection Committee. Fifth-ranked Ohio State University and eighth-ranked University of Southern California were selected by the committee to come to North Texas to play in the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in a battle of conference champions.
The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will play host to two conference champions for the first time since 1987 when Ohio State defeated Texas A&M, the Southwest Conference Champion, 28-12. This is Ohio State’s second appearance in the Classic after the 1987 Cotton Bowl.
