Foundation Readies for North Texas Giving Day
The Cotton Bowl Foundation announced that all funds raised on North Texas Giving Day today will go to support the grants distributed by the Cotton Bowl Foundation annually to organizations that help underserved youth in North Texas.
"Our mission is to serve the communities associated with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic," Rick Baker, Cotton Bowl Foundation President said. "The Foundation's vision, channeled through the great sport of football, is to make an impact on those that play the game, attend the game and support the game.

Classic to Serve as Presenting Sponsor of FWAA All-America Team
Two of college football's most iconic brands – the Football Writers Association of America and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic – are combining efforts to recognize, honor and promote the FWAA All-America Team, the nation's second-longest continuously published All-America team. Founded in 1944, this marks the team's 75th anniversary season.
As presenting sponsor, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl will work with FWAA committees to not only recognize each season's outstanding student-athletes but to also salute the great players of the past.

Clemson Downs Notre Dame, 30-3 to advance to National Championship
The Clemson Tigers emerged victorious in a battle of two undefeated teams at the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. The Tigers’ explosive offensive performance afforded them a 30-3 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at AT&T Stadium in front of a crowd of 72,183 fans on Saturday night.
Clemson is no stranger to the College Football Playoff as they’ve clinched a spot in four of the last five Playoff Semifinals, played in three of the last four CFP National Championships and won the 2017 CFP National Championship game against Alabama.
Clemson Defensive End Bryant Named Defensive MVP
Clemson defensive end Austin Bryant brought home the McKnight Trophy as the defensive of the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. Bryant helped lead the Tigers to a 30-3 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night.
All eyes were on Bryant to step up on the Tigers’ defensive front, as star lineman Dexter Lawrence was suspended for the game. Bryant anchored a Clemson defense that held Notre Dame to only 248 total yards.
Bryant wreaked havoc against the Notre Dame offensive line.
Clemson Quarterback Lawrence Named Offensive MVP
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence received the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic’s J. Curtis Sanford Offensive MVP Award after leading the No. 2 Tigers to a 30-3 win over third-ranked Notre Dame.
The freshman threw for 327 yards, completing 27 of 39 passes – marks that each rank fifth all-time in Cotton Bowl Classic history. Lawrence threw for three touchdown passes, which is tied for third (with seven other players) in the bowl’s history.
Lawrence set a Cotton Bowl Classic halftime record with 264 passing yards.
Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Notes
Today’s game is the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, and the 10th played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The game is the first in Classic history between two unbeaten and untied teams.
Clemson won the coin toss and elected to defer its choice to the second half. Notre Dame then chose to receive to start the 83rd Classic.
The College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic kicked off at 3:11 p.m. Central time.

Cotton Bowl Classic Records
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence passed for 327 yards and three touchdowns on 27 of 39 passing.
The
327 passing yards ranks fifth all-time in Classic history. 27 completions rank fifth. 39 pass attempts tied for ninth on the record list.Lawrence’s three touchdown passes tied for third on the Classic record list, tying seven other players. The most recent to throw three touchdown passes was Bryce Petty of Baylor vs. Michigan State in 2015.
Irish Complete Game Week Routine
Notre Dame wrapped up preparation for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic with a one-hour walk-through on Friday at AT&T Stadium.
This is the first playoff appearance for the Fighting Irish (12-0), ranked third in the CFP standings, but Head Coach Brian Kelly has tried to make each day this week operate as much as possible like the team’s normal game-week routine. Earlier in the day at a press conference, Kelly said he intended for the team to focus on “flipping that mindset from a practice to a competitive mindset.
Tigers Narrow Focus on Notre Dame in Friday Walk-Through
Clemson conducted a brief walk-through Friday as a part of its final preparation for its College Football Playoff semifinal clash with third-seeded Notre Dame.
The Tigers (12-0, 8-0 ACC) and Fighting Irish (12-0) are meeting for the fourth time and the first time in the postseason. Clemson holds a 2-1 series advantage, winning the 1979 game in South Bend (16-10) and the 2015 game at home (24-22). Notre Dame won the 1977 matchup at Death Valley (21-17).
Clemson is one of only six current Football Bowl Subdivision schools with a winning mark against the Irish in a minimum of three games played, joining Florida State (6-3), Michigan (24-18-1), Nebraska (8-7-1), Ohio State (4-2) and North Carolina State (2-1).
Cotton Bowl Foundation Awards $225,000 in Grants to Support North Texas Youth Organizations
Bright young minds and the teachers who inspire them in underserved neighborhoods across North Texas will receive a lift, thanks to $225,000 in support from the Cotton Bowl Foundation. At today’s Goodyear Big Play Luncheon, the Foundation announced grants to Mission Arlington, St. Philip's School and Community Center, Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Education Opens Doors, Teaching Trust, and Urban Teachers. The announcement of the grants took place today at the annual Goodyear Big Play Luncheon.
Notre Dame Visits Children's Medical Center
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took a break from their preparations for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic this afternoon to visit patients and families at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
The visit began with a welcoming from Children’s Health President and Chief Executive Officer, Chris Durovich. Todd Macsuga, the General Manager of Goodyear North America, then presented the hospital with a special $10,000 check on behalf of Goodyear.
Clemson Caps Busy Day With Final Full Practice at AT&T Stadium
Clemson put the final touches on its Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic preparation on a busy day for the Tigers.
Following the team's official media day at AT&T Stadium, players and coaches visited Texas Scottish Rite Hospital before heading back to Arlington for their final full practice of the week.
Head coach Dabo Swinney said he was pleased with the high energy in their Team Thursday workout as his Tigers fine-tuned their game plan one last time prior to their semifinal matchup against third-seeded Notre Dame (12-0).
Irish Log Busy Day On, Off Field
Notre Dame put in its longest day at AT&T Stadium on Thursday in preparation for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
The No. 3 Fighting Irish (12-0) kicked off the morning with all players and coaches participating in the semifinal’s official media day on the AT&T Stadium field. Afterward, the team changed in the locker room and returned to practice for 90 minutes, then showered and changed again and ate lunch before leaving about four hours after arriving.
Clemson Visits Texas Scottish Rite Hospital
The Clemson Tigers took some time outside of their preparation for this year’s College Football Playoff Semifinal at the 83rd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic to visit patients of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
Head Coach Dabo Swinney and the entire squad visited with the patients inside Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children cafeteria where many activities like Fortnite Dancing, cornhole and arts and crafts awaited them. Scottish Rite’s President Doug Walker gave a grand welcome to all in attendance, followed by a special $10,000 check presentation by General Manager of Goodyear North America, Todd Macsuga.
