COTTON BOWL FOUNDATION AND CFP FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE $100,000 GRANT TO DALLAS SCHOOL
The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and the Cotton Bowl Foundation today announced $100,000 in grants to Dallas Independent School District’s Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. The Cotton Bowl Foundation will donate $50,000, with the College Football Playoff Foundation matching that dollar figure.
The Cotton Bowl Foundation’s gift ensures that all students at the school will have the opportunity to visit a college campus prior to graduating high school. The CFP Foundation’s matching grant will go to offset other enrichment and exposure priorities.
“We are proud to partner with the CFP Foundation on this initiative to support the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy’s mission to create a college-going culture for its students,” said Jay McAuley, Chairman of the Cotton Bowl Foundation. “This is an exciting way to engage young minds early in the process and to encourage them to dream big with college education as a primary goal. The Cotton Bowl Foundation is honored to provide this assistance. We believe the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy will use these funds to accomplish wonderful things for their students.”

We are delighted to partner with them to support a program that we believe in so deeply – creating a college-going culture for students. It’s never too early to open the doors of opportunity to bright young minds. This grant will do just that.”
The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy’s mission is “to develop young men into impactful leaders through the development of their intellectual, moral, physical, social and emotional skills for the global society of tomorrow.” Adding college visits to the current College-Readiness Plan will help ensure that the academy’s campus maintains its 100-percent college acceptance and matriculation rates. The college visits are structured to meet the developmental needs of the school’s student body and promotes college readiness from 6-12th grades.

Since its inception in 2013, the CFP Foundation has funded over $1 million in college-going culture resources through partnerships in addition to original programming such as the CFP Foundation’s College Banner Program which has touched over 900,000 students and teachers in the host communities of the College Football Playoff National Championship. The CFP Foundation has similarly partnered with organizations around the previous two national championship games to fund college campus visits for local students.
In addition to the college-going culture focused programming, the CFP Foundation also focuses on elevating the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering quality teachers through Extra Yard for Teachers, the CFP Foundation’s primary philanthropic initiative.
