TRAIN'S PAT MONAHAN TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT 78TH CLASSIC
The AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic is proud to announce that Grammy winner Pat Monahan, best known as the lead singer for the rock band Train, will kick off the 78th AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Pat, with his bandmates at his side, will sing the national anthem to a sold-out AT&T Stadium on January 3.
"We are thrilled to have Pat perform our country’s National Anthem as part of the pre-game pageantry at the 2014 Classic," Tommy Bain, Chairman of the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic said. "With this three-time Grammy Award winner setting the tone for what is sure to be a fantastic evening, our crowd is in for a real treat."
Train initially found success with the 2001 album DROPS OF JUPITER and in 2002 won two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist. In 2009, the group channeled their San Francisco roots and recorded SAVE ME, SAN FRANCISO. The release yielded 2010’s biggest song, “Hey Soul Sister,” which hit #1 at radio in the US and in 15 countries abroad as well. Pat and Train won a Grammy as well for “Hey Soul Sister,” along with numerous other awards. Other singles from the 2009 album “If It’s Love” “Marry Me” and the title track were huge hits as well. SAVE ME, SAN FRANCISCO has sold over one million albums worldwide and over ten million tracks. Pat and the band are currently promoting CALIFORNIA 37, which was released last year. The album has garnered two hit singles, “Drive By” and “50 Ways To Say Goodbye,” with the songs “Mermaid” and “Bruises” quickly rising on the radio charts.
The AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic will kick off on January 3 and will be broadcast nationally to an audience of millions on FOX at 7 p.m. CST.
